Statement of Faith
We believe that the Bible, both Old and New Testaments in their original writings, is the inspired Word of God, and that it is the supreme and final authority in faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:19-21)
We believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, each being eternal, identical in nature, equal in power and glory, yet being One. (Matthew 28:19, I Peter 1:2).
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person, equal with God the Father, and with God the Son, that He convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgement, and is the restraining force against the evil one until God's purpose is fulfilled that He convicts regenerates, and indwells every believer in Jesus Christ, and places them in the body of Christ sealing them unto the day of Redemption. (Jn. 14:16; Matt 28:19; John. 16:8-11; II Thess. 2:7; I Corinthians12:13 Eph. 4:30)
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Eternal son of God, became man without ceasing to be God having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man. (John. 1:1-2 14; Luke 1:35), that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and, that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead. (Romans 3:23-25; Eph. 1:7, I Peter 1:3-5; 2:24, 3:18) That the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God, where, as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate. (Acts 1:9-10; Romans 8:34; Hebrew 7:25, 9:24; I John. 2:1-2)That the Lord Jesus Christ is coming again, personal, and visible, first for His own and then to establish the Millennial Kingdom when He shall be visible to all. (I Thess. 4:13-17; Rev. 19:11; 20:4)
We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, in innocence and without sin, but that in Adam's sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God. Man is totally depraved and of himself is utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. All who remain in this state are serving their father, the devil, and are doomed to the lake of fire, (Genesis 1:26-27; 2:17; 6:5; Psalm 14:1-3; 51:5; Jer. 17:9; Romans 3:10-19; Ephesians 2:1-3; Romans 5:12; John. 8:44; Revelations 20:15)
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins as our substitutionary sacrifice; that all who believe in Him and the finished work of Calvary by faith are freely justified forever in God's eyes on the ground of His shed blood, and have everlasting life now and forever. (Galatians 3:13; Rom. 5:6-8, Ephesians 1:7; John. 3:36; 5:24)
We believe that in order to be saved, sinners must be born again by the Spirit of God, which makes one a new creature and a child of God. That salvation is a free gift, by grace, entirely apart from works, such as Church membership, Baptism, prayer, faithful service, etc. Believers will be judged at the Judgment Seat of Christ, not for their sins, but for their rewards. (John. 3:3-6; Ephesians 2:8-9; II Corinthians 5:17; 5:10)
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust. In the everlasting blessedness of the saved. In the everlasting punishment of the lost. (I Corinthians 15:51-57; I Thessalonians 4:15-17; John. 14:1-4; Revelations 20:12-15)
We believe that Satan is a person, a fallen angel, who is the author of sin and the cause of the fall; that he is the open and declared enemy of God and the people of God, who, in his warfare appears as an angel of light, even counterfeiting the works of God by religious movements and systems of doctrine which in every case are characterized by a denial of the efficacy of the blood. (Genesis 3:1-16; Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:1-19; Matthew 25:14; II Corinthians 11:13-15; Eph. 6:10-12; Revelations 20:10).
We believe in the Universal Church, the body of Christ of which He is the Head. All those who have received the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Saviour are members of this Church. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 1:20-23; 3:1-13). That the local New Testament Church is a body of saved individuals who have been baptized by immersion in water and joined together for worship, service, and in the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world in fulfillment to His Commission. (Acts 2:41-47; 14:27; I Timothy 3:1-13). That the Scriptures are the supreme authority as our rule of faith and practice, since it is the Word of God. (II Timothy 3:16-17; Acts 2:41; 4:31-34; Galatians 6:6-12).
We believe that Water Baptism, by immersion, and the Lord's Supper are the only ordinances of the Church and that they are Scriptural means of testimony for the church in this age. (Matthew 28:19; I Corinthians 11:23-26). That Christian Baptism is the immersion in water of a believer in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, to show forth a solemn and beautiful symbol of our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Saviour with its symbolic effect of our death to sin and resurrection to a new life. (Romans 6:3-5)
That the Lord's Supper is a sacred ordinance in which the members of the Church and visiting believers of like faith, by the use of bread and cup, are to commemorate Christ's love and death for us until He returns, preceded always by solemn self-examination. (I Corinthians 11:23-26).
